Well anyway, it ended up that Vick was suspended from the NFL and in that imprisonment he even filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy
Now Micheal Vick is out from prison and for a while there was still the debate of whether or not he should be let back into the NFL . For a while ,anyway, I was stuck somewhere between both sides.
I don't consider myself to big of an animal lover and I'm no where close to being an animal rights activist. But I feel what Micheal Vick (as well at the other members of the "Bad Newz Kennel club" did was entirely wrong in inhumane. But there was at the time a big of over exaggerations, especially by groups such as PETA. (( Not that I dont like PETA but they do have the habit of blowing everything out of proportion.... remember that Obama Fly thing... ))
Now I like Micheal Vick a lot, he was at one time my favorite player. Simply because he is a great football player. Maybe its just my habit of overlooking details of famous people's personal lives. But plain and simple I see no connection between the NFL and The illegal Dog Fighting Underground , so why is it Vick should not be able to play. Its not like when the police ban pedophiles who have 'hooked up' or worse with juveniles over the interet from using computers. The NFL is not a gateway to dogfighting it it was I'm sure it would be outlawed.
Anyway, now Vick has signed a two-year contract with the Philidephia Eagles, and truly I think he has served his debt to society, he's lost eerything he owned and he has to live with the fact that almost everyone will still see him as a dog murderer . All that tells me that he definately won't go back to the dog fighting. Besides isn't America supposed to be the place where every citizen no matter what their past is allowed a second chance ?

Oreo. Its a term lots of people are common with. Basically,'Oreo 'is a concept. "Black on the outside, white on the inside It is joined by many other terms, Uncle Tom, Coconut, Why I have even heard thinks like chocolate-vanilla swirl. But all these terms bubble down into one thing : A black person "acting white". But what exactly is acting white? Hell, what is acting black? Is there an unwritten rule book to being a person of African(Black) roots ?
Now when I was growing up I lived (in fact I still do live in) Florida. Florida which is in the south unlike many southern states, isn't very southern like. Most people don't have thick country accents or accents at all, most Floridians don't take part in things stereotypically seen by southern states. You know things like pig chasing, all you can eat country fried chicken eatin' contests. Its because Florida has such a rich Latin cultured history which differentiates us from our southern neighbors.
Another thing about my youth is that as a child I grew up in a neighbourhood which was primarily inhabited by middle-class whites. And went to a primarily white school. Also my mum thought me to always respect myself and others, which includes in public you don't go acting like an idiot. She always told me that White people always look down on blacks and the way most black people act they have every right to. My mum wanted me to be better,to make something of myself and act sensible , and this was never a problem until middle school.
In middle school I went to a school where most of its students were black. My mannerism was quite different from other black students I must say. This is where I began being ridiculed for being an oreo,or acting white. I remember in 7th grade I was selected for a seminar where bright African American students would be honored. It was held respectivly in February , and I remember one of the men there who was giving a speech one of his part of his speech said that "Some of your peers may say you are "acting white",but instead you should tell them that you are acting right !" This struck me because I had always been trying to find a non violent way to retaliate against these people who constantly bothered me with their claims of acting white.
But lets examine what exactly is "acting white" . Simply its when a black person(or a person of any minority group for that matter ) acts like people of the Caucasian race. But what is acting black ? Is it loving watermelon and grape kool-aid. Is it loving to wear your pants around your ankles and listen to obnoxious rap music? Is it to act like a "gangsta" or maybe its talking nothing but thick dialect of ebonics and saying the n-word a lot. All of these are correct actually. I find it sad how many blacks think that to be black you must follow this set of stereotypes set by nothing more than racists.
Few people have taken the time to actually study this but the few sociologists that have studied this subject have found that lots of black students don't show their true academic potential when at school because of fear of ridicule as well as the label of "acting white " Moe information on this subject can be found on plenty of sources on the internet but some good background knowledge can be found on wikipedia. < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acting_whit
In conclusion we as people need to stop looking at stereotypes and seeing it as a way people should live their life. I have always said. Just live life and keep going. Do not let people dictate your future with silly concepts of the past.

I am very late on this I know, but as most everyone knows by now, two days ago (June 25th ) the world lost one of its few living legends. Of course I am speaking of the one and only Micheal Jackson. I'm sure like every one else I was both shocked and deeply saddened. And the thing that pisses me off more than just the fact that he died is the fact that he was a legend. I mean really , every time a musical legend dies a part of me dies with them because no one , no one can take their place. You look at music today and who do we have ? Jonas Brother , Soulja Boi , Miley Cyrus . I mean when you look at music today and music back then , now a days the music industrie is just feeding us garbage , plain filth , where as back then people were given cups of sugar , sweet nectars. I feel bad for children though , most children are forced to eat this garbage, and this is all they're used to so they just learn to love this crap. Enough ranting on my quality of music I suppose. But really my heart goes out to the Jackson Family as well as the millions , no billions of people that have been touched and brought together by the music of Micheal Jackson. On important note ,lets forget the past 10 years or so and let the man live through his wonderful music and not his private life. Maybe legends never trully die.
